Carbondale PD investigating armed robbery on a bike

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - The Carbondale Police Department is investigating a report of an armed robbery in which the suspect was on a bicycle.

According to police, on August 19 at around 4:14 a.m., they received a report of an armed robbery.

The victim reported being in the 500 block of South Logan Street at around 3:30 a.m. when the victim was approached by a man on a black bicycle with a white seat and a cable lock around the frame.

The man was only described as a black male and about 30 years. He was described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with an average build, short curly hair, brown eyes, a full beard and wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

Police say the victim and suspect talked, but it ended when the suspect pulled out a handgun and allegedly demanded money.

According to police, the suspect took property belonging to the victim and rode the bicycle northbound.

The victim then walked to the police department to report the robbery.

The investigation is ongoing.
