CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Missouri law enforcement agencies report the August/Labor Day weekend holiday can be dangerous when it comes to drunk drivers.
So, Missouri agencies are announcing a statewide campaign to crack down on impaired driving.
The DWI Enforcement Campaign will consist of a variety of checkpoints and the title, "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over."
In 2015, five people died and 53 were injured as a result of substance-impaired driving.
Cape Girardeau Police Chief Wes Blair issued a statement saying in part, "...getting behind the wheel drunk is a terrible idea."
The campaign will run from August 19 to September 5 of this year.
