MARSHALL COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Two people from Tennessee were arrested and taken to jail following an investigation of stolen property in Marshall County, KY.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, on Wednesday, deputies were investigating suspects who were reportedly selling stolen utility trailers.
One of the deputies reportedly made contact with the individuals who were allegedly trying to sell a 16 foot tandem axle trailer.
Deputies observed that the utility trailer had portions which had been recently spray painted black. According to the sheriff's department, deputies located burglary tools inside the vehicle.
The suspects were identified as Joey Calhoun of Reeves, Tennessee, and Shellie Tidwell of Union City, Tennessee.
Both were arrested on drug charges.
Calhoun faces charges for possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree for meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He also faces charges for receiving stolen property, in reference to the trailer.
Shellie Tidwell faces the same drug charge, possession of a controlled substance in the 1st degree for meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both were taken to the Marshall County jail.
Deputies reportedly contacted a person from Marshall County that also had recently purchased a utility trailer from Joey Calhoun.
That trailer had been reported stolen in Marshall County.
Deputies recovered the trailer and it is being returned to the victim.
Detectives are coordinating with Tennessee and Kentucky law enforcement agencies to try and identify additional victims of the utility trailer thefts.
