MISSOURI (KFVS) - The KFVS news team brought home several first place awards from the 2016 Missouri Broadcaster's Annual Convention on Saturday, June 11.
'Heartland News at 6' won Best Newscast for medium sized market.
Brian Heisserer was honored as the producer of the show.
Crystal Britt and photographer Don Frazier won in the News Series category for 'A Place to Call Home.'
For Outstanding Sports Reporting, Todd Richards and Nick Chabarria were winners.
Dan Timpe received a Runner Up Award for his work on the promotional spot on Melaina's Magical Playland Golf Fundraiser.
The awards banquet was held in Branson, Missouri.
Barry Williams, best known for his work as Greg Brady on "The Brady Bunch," served as the Master of Ceremonies.
About 350 broadcasters from radio and television stations across Missouri were in attendance.
Hall of Fame inductees at this year's banquet included Ken and Jane Meyer, founders of Meyer Communications, Mike Shannon, voice of the St. Louis Cardinals and Jerome Zimmer, founder of Zimmer Broadcasting.
Stations of the Year presentations to KMOV-TV, St. Louis and KCLR-FM, Columbia.
The MBA also recognized Gary Exline, General Manager of Eagle Communications in St. Joseph, with the Distinguished Broadcaster Award. Lifetime Member Awards were presented to John Butler, Charles and Scottie Earls, Ed Foxall and Dick Womack.
