FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A section of Interstate 57 in Franklin County, Illinois was shut down for a time on Friday due to a vehicle fire.

Officials say a semi truck, driven by Kenneth Jordan, 51, of Montezuma, Georgia, was heading north on I-57 at mile post 67.

Jordan noticed a large amount of fluid leaking out of the truck and pulled over to investigate the cause.

When he opened the hood of the truck, the engine was on fire and spread rapidly.

The entire cab was consumed, as well as the front half of the trailer.

West City and West Frankfort Fire Departments responded to extinguish the flames.

I-57 northbound lanes were completely shut down for approximately 1.5 hours to gain control of the fire.

Once the fire was under control, one lane was reopened. All lanes were reopened at 7:05 p.m.
