CARTER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Black bears appear to be making more appearances across southern Missouri.

An Ellsinore, MO resident spotted a black bear with a cub along Highway 60 in Carter, Co.

According to Dee Dee Sparks, she snapped several pictures of the black bear about a half mile east of Ellsinore.

She said around 7:30 p.m. on June 7, she saw the black bear and the cub along the north side of the highway.

After she passed them, one of the bears crossed the road into the median behind her.

This spotting comes not long after a  family in Cape Girardeau County got an unexpected visitor last week when a black bear wandered onto their driveway.

According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, black bears are an exciting part of Missouri's natural history, and they're making a comeback in the southern part of the state.
