SEMO announces new athletic director

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Southeast Missouri State University has named Brady Barke as the new Athletic Director.
Barke, who has been serving as Interim Athletic Director since August 2015, will replace Mark Alnutt who announced his resignation in July 2015.
He was one of three finalists among the more than 50 applicants after a nationwide search for the position.
During the press conference, Barke said he is excited to take over. He went on to say "I am extremely honored to have this opportunity to work alongside a great group of coaches and staff, talented student athletes, dedicated Athletics supporters, and a great University community."
During his tenure as Interim Athletic Director, Barke spearheaded the renovation of the athletic weight room and developed plans to upgrade its academic space, according to a University spokesperson.
Before taking the job as Athletic Director, Barke served as the senior associate to the president at Southeast. He began his tenure at Southeast in 2008 as Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance & Eligibility.
He will officially begin in his new role on July 1.
