Authorities release ID of man hit by Amtrak train in Carlisle Co.

CARLISLE COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Officials have released the name of a pedestrian who died after being hit by an Amtrak train in Carlisle County, Kentucky.

According to Carlisle County Coroner Brigitte Choate, Darin Lee Terry, 27, of Arlington, Ky., was on the train tracks when he was hit by the train.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the incident happened overnight near Arlington along State Highway 80.

Choate said they have completed the autopsy. Terry was identified by his fingerprints.

Amtrak reports no one on board of the train was injured.

The train was en route from Memphis and headed to Carbondale. Its final destination was Chicago.

The train was moved and eventually arrived in Carbondale just after 5 a.m., about two hours after its scheduled arrival.

Amtrak shows the train is expected to arrive in Chicago around 10:30 a.m.

State Highway 80 was closed at the rail crossing just west of US 51. However, it was expected to reopen to traffic around 6:45 a.m.
