Officials ID man charged with armed bank robbery in Risco
RISCO, MO (KFVS) - We now know the name of the suspect charged in connection with an armed bank robbery in Risco, Missouri on Tuesday, May 24.
According to the New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens, the robbery happened on Tuesday around 9:30 a.m. at the First State Community Bank.
The Risco chief said a black male entered the bank with a black, long gun demanding money.
The suspect allegedly took an undetermined amount of money before leaving the bank in a white older model Lincoln Centennial with a yellow sticker in the back windshield.
New Madrid County investigators and Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to Malden, Missouri, after Malden Police Department quickly located the suspected vehicle parked at 810 Tom Street in Malden, Missouri.
When officers made contact with the driver (identified as George E. Reed) they saw several items used in the bank robber yin the front seat of the suspect's vehicle.
Officers identified the driver and noted he was wearing the same clothing bank employees described to the investigators.
When officers took the suspect into custody, they found a package of methamphetamine and a large amount of cash.
Several of the bills matched the First State Community Bank's serial numbers of U.S. currency that had been stolen.
A search warrant was obtained for 810 Tom Street in Malden.
During the search, officers located a backpack containing a large amount of U.S. currency.

Sheriff Stevens said employees are safe and there were no injuries.
He said an undetermined amount of money was recovered.
