Empty Bowls Project raises nearly $10K to fight hunger after Mayfield tornado

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The Empty Bowls Project Paducah's latest effort raised $9,550 dollars to help families affected by the tornado that hit Mayfield, KY May 10, 2016.

Artists, restaurants and the community from across western Kentucky came together April 16th for the event at the Trace Creek Baptist Church's Family Life Center in Mayfield.

At the event, patrons bought a bowl, and 20 local restaurants provided the food to fill them.

On Sunday, May 23rd, organizer Caludia Heath presented a check for $9,550 to the Mayfield-Graves County Food Pantry, which provides emergency food supplies for local needy families.
