Paducah woman arrested, charged with selling prescription drugs

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A Paducah woman is behind bars after getting caught allegedly trying to sell prescription painkillers at a business in McCracken County.

On Tuesday, a detective with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department Drug Division was contacted by an individual regarding illegal drug activity.

The person had discovered text messages on a phone regarding selling Methadone pills.

Detectives met with the individual and observed the text messages.

The person sending the text messages was identified as Cheryl Groat, 63, of Paducah, Ky.

An agreement was made to meet Groat at a local business on Cairo Road to purchase to sixty doses of Methadone.

Groat was located by detectives at the business on Cairo Road at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Over sixty doses of Methadone were taken from Groat.

During the investigation, Groat admitted to going to the business to sell the Methadone.

Groat was charged with trafficking controlled substance - first degree over 10 doses, and lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
