The first day of February looks to be off to a good start weather-wise. The Heartland will wake up to temps around 40. By lunchtime, we'll see partly cloudy skies and highs in the 50s. FIRST ALERT: the weather team is tracking the possibility of severe weather for Tuesday, with the potential for storms packing high winds.

Making Headlines:

Crime spree: Authorities are searching for two Joplin, Mo. suspects considered to be armed and dangerous after a crime spree across three Alabama cities. Both Blake Fitzgerald and Brittany Harper are wanted for the apparent kidnapping of two people.

Fatal fall: St. Louis authorities are investigating the death of a man who apparently fell from the 16th floor at the Marriott St. Louis Grand Hotel in downtown early Sunday. The man apparently crashed through the atrium into the lobby and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wanted: The Kennett Police Department is searching for a suspect who hit an 8-year-old child riding on their bike and then left the scene. Police report a small white car ran a stop sign at an intersection, hit the child's back tire, throwing her off the bike.

Under investigation: Investigators are expected to release documents today that could shed light on the cause of a fatal Amtrak train derailment in Philadelphia last year. The documents should include the factual information gathered so far from the crash that killed eight people and injured about 200 others.

Critical contest: The Iowa caucuses launch the presidential nominating process on Monday. The caucuses will start across the state at 7 p.m. CST Monday, with Democrats gathering at 1,100 locations and Republicans joining at nearly 900 spots.
