ISP reports semi, truck crash on I-57

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Illinois State Police is reporting one person suffered minor injuries after a semi hit a truck on I-57 Wednesday morning, Jan. 20.
Kristina L. Johnson, 37, of Whittington, Illinois, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 northbound on I-57 when she lost control of her vehicle on the snow-covered roadway.
Johnson ended up in the median and kept sliding into southbound lanes.She came to rest directly in the path of a semi driven Waldemar Ramos-Santiago, 33, of Laredo, Texas.
The impact caused the truck to come to rest in the left lane of I-57. The semi came to rest in the edge of the median and left lane.
Both vehicles received heavy damage and were towed from the scene.
Traffic was diverted off of I-57 southbound as authorities investigated. Cleanup at the scene lasted for approximately six hours for both this accident and an earlier fatality crash on I-57 at mile post 84.
Authorities are reporting that all lanes of traffic are now open.
Johnson was cited for improper lane usage.
