Miner police arrest two on burglary charges
MINER, MO (KFVS) - The Miner Police Department is reporting that two out-of-state people were arrested on burglary and property damage charges on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
An off duty officer was notified of two black males that were under a carport of a an abandoned house that was being renovated on Monday, Jan. 11. It was reported that the suspects were taking things from a construction trailer that was parked on the property.
Officers responded and the two suspects took off running, leaving behind the tools they had used in the burglary attempt.
A search of the area was done, and a K9 dog was even brought in, but the suspects were not located.
The suspects had left their vehicle parked near the scene. It was a rented vehicle from Budget rental company from Memphis, Tennessee.
Officers conducted surveillance on this vehicle and later found it at a Denny's restaurant in Matthews, Missouri.
Jairus D. Alston, 28, of Memphis Tennessee, and Justin Whitmore, 33, of Memphis Tennessee, were subsequently arrested early Tuesday morning.
Both men were charged with burglary in the second degree, possession of burglary tools and property damage in the second degree.
Bond has been set at $2500.00, cash only.
Both men are being held at the Scott County Sheriffs Department.
The vehicle the suspects were traveling in is a White 2016 Dodge four door truck with a Tennessee license plate number of W7064H.
