MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Police say a Craigslist ad led to the arrest of a McCracken County man accused of robbing another man a week before.

Michael R. Lightfoot, 20, was charged with first degree robbery.

According to Paducah police, a man told them on Dec. 28 that he answered a Craigslist ad for an iPhone for sale. He said he met the seller, Lightfoot, on Roell Circle at about 7:30 p.m. and bought the phone.

Lightfoot allegedly said he had forgotten to unlock the phone, and when the victim handed it back, Lightfoot pulled out a handgun and told him to leave. Lightfoot then allegedly left with both the phone and $250 given to him by the victim.

Paducah police said they were able to connect a second telephone number to Lightfoot and contacted him to allegedly buy a phone from him. They met him on Tuesday afternoon in a parking lot and arrested him.

During an interview, Lightfoot allegedly admitted to robbing the victim on Dec. 28.

He was charged and booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Detectives warn citizens to be extremely cautious when buying from strangers. They say to agree to meet only in well-lit, populated areas, and give no personal information.
