SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter is reporting that a Missouri woman was arrested on drug charges on Sunday, Jan. 3.
A Scott County deputy conducted a traffic stop on Sunday on State Highway 62 near Miner. The driver of the vehicle reportedly gave the deputy a false name.
The deputy was then able to identify the driver as Kayla Lawrence, 24, of Jackson, Missouri, and discovered she had an active arrest warrant out of Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Office for failure to appear in court on drug charges.
Lawrence then gave the deputy permission to search her back pack, in which a metal spoon with residue on it, a blue tourniquet and a smoking pipe containing a green, leafy substance were found.
Lawrence was arrested and taken to the Scott County Jail, at which time she told deputies she had also had a syringe on her.
The syringe tested positive for Methamphetamine.
Lawrence has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both of which are class A misdemeanors.
She remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond has been set at $5,000 cash only.
