Teen in custody after deadly Sikeston shooting

SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - A suspect is in custody after a homicide in Sikeston, Missouri on Tuesday, Dec. 29.

According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, Tiarrius Gant, 17, of Sikeston, is facing second-degree murder and armed criminal action charges after a deadly shooting at a home on Apache St.

Captain Mike Williams said officers were dispatched to the home around 9:23 p.m. on Tuesday.

Officers were also sent to a local hospital where the 17-year-old victim was located, and later died of his injuries.

According to Williams, witnesses identified the suspect on the scene.

Williams reports the major case squad was activated to locate the shooter.

Warrants were applied and received for Gant through New Madrid County. He was eventually located and arrested in St. Louis on Wednesday morning.

Gant is charged with murder in the 2nd degree, armed criminal action X 2, felony murder and discharging a weapon from a motor-vehicle.

Bond has been set $100,000, cash only.
