CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A fugitive who escaped from a hospital after a high speed chase in Calloway County has been arrested.
Calloway County deputies asked for the public's help in searching for Christopher Carter, 35, of Paris Tenn. after he escaped from the Vanderbilt Medical Center on Monday, Dec. 28.
He was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 29 in Benton Co., Tenn. and has been returned to Calloway County to face charges.
Carter was driving in the Blood River Road area of New Concord, Ky. on Christmas Day when Calloway County deputies noticed Carter driving fast behind them.
The deputies noticed the vehicle only had one headlight.
When they attempted to make a traffic stop, the driver began to flee.
As deputies chased Carter, they noticed he was throwing items out of the vehicle's window. He then missed a curve and ran into a tree.
Carter was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee for injuries from the crash.
Deputies obtained warrants on Carter on traffic violations and drug trafficking charges.
He was to be formally charged once he was released from the hospital.
Three days later, Carter left the facility. However, he was arrested the next day.
