St Louis, MO (KFVS) - A polar bear at the Saint Louis Zoo received an early Christmas present.
The zoo's animal nutrition staff created a giant candy cane for Kali.
Using a 10-foot-tall PVC pipe, staff members froze layers of water and fruit punch around a bamboo stick.
According to a post on the zoo's Facebook page, it took 10 days to completely freeze the treat inside a large freezer.
A truck delivered the candy cane to Kali's habitat and workers carefully placed it into a freshly dug hole.
Judging by the video posted to the zoo's YouTube channel, the 850-pound polar bear seemed to enjoy the holiday gift.
Kali came to the Saint Louis Zoo in May of 2015 after being orphaned in Alaska.
He made his public debut on June 6.
