MISSOURI (KFVS) - Missouri is one of 29 states selected to take on additional cyber units.

U.S. Senator Roy Blunt, a member of the Senate Subcommittee on Defense Appropriations, made the announcement on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, that this is one of the several defense priorities included in the recently passed appropriations bill.

The provision includes $7.5 million to support Army National Guard Cyber Protection Teams.

In Missouri, the money will be used to take on additional cyber units tasked to identify and reduce emerging cyber threats to the United States.

The National Guard Bureau has recognized the Missouri Cyber Team as an exceptionally experienced and knowledgeable team.

The Missouri Cyber Team also serves as a resource to the National Guard Bureau in planning its annual national Cyber Shield exercise.
