Charleston man accused of Craigslist cellphone robbery

CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) - Police arrested a Charleston man accused of robbing someone of his cellphone during a Craigslist transaction.

Marquelis Andrews, 18, of Charleston is charged with robbery second degree, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Police say the victim traveled from Perryville to Charleston on Dec. 15 to sell a phone he had listed on Craigslist.

The victim told police he met Andrews at 6 p.m. on Ada Street when the suspect grabbed the cell phone and ran away.

The victim was able to give a description of the suspect to police.

Police found Andrews on South Street. When he was approached, he began to run. During the foot chase, he got rid a handgun that was later recovered.

Andrews was taken into custody a short time later.

The handgun was determined to have been reported stolen earlier in the month.

Police say additional charges and arrests are possibly.
