ROCKVIEW, MO (KFVS) - Several fire departments responded to a house fire in the Rockview, Missouri community on Wednesday evening, Dec. 9.

Chaffee Fire Department asst. chief John R. Jenkins says the department got a call for a structure fire around 6:40 p.m. and were on the scene within 15 minutes.

The house is located on Bienert Street, which is a Chaffee address but in the Rockview community.

Jenkins said the trailer was engulfed in flames when they arrived on the scene.

They then called for mutual aid for tankers from the Delta Fire Protection District, the Oran Fire Protection District and the NBC Fire Protection District. Scott City Fire Department provided mutual aid personnel.

Authorities said that there are no hydrants in Rockview and that it is not uncommon to call for extra water.

It took fire crews at least one hour to contain the blaze.

Crews said it was a vacant trailer that had only been used for storage. The owner hadn't lived there for about a year and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters said that they did hear a few rounds of ammunition go off. The homeowner confirmed that there were a few shotgun shells inside

As of 9:30 p.m., crews were still battling hot spots and cleaning up.
