CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Twenty-one year old Pascasio Arellano was in the Calloway County Jail on Tuesday night.

He is facing charges in connection to the death of four of his family members in their Calloway County home.

He is the nephew of one of the victims in the case.

There are now new details on those charges.

The family said they are in shock that one of their own could be responsible for such a tragic crime.

Court documents show police went to Pascasio Pacheco Arellano house in Mayfield after family members recorded a conversation with Arellano revealing his alleged involvement with the crime.

Wearing his jail jumpsuit, Arellano faced a judge for his arraignment.

His charges include four counts of murder and he learned what he could face if found guilty.

"Twenty years to life," said the judge.

The County Attorney asked that no bond be set for Arellano based on the "horrifying facts" surrounding this case.

He was still wearing the arm sling from injuries police say he received while committing the crime.

Arellano is being accused of killing his uncle, 29-year-old Bulmaro Arellano, his wife Marisol Hernandez and their two children, five-year-old Miguel and 1-year-old Marisol.

Upon Arellano's arrest at his home, authorities discovered injuries, including an open gash on his left hand consistent with blood found at the crime scene.

Clothes and a car floor mat covered in blood were also found inside the house.

Arellano appeared before a judge without an attorney present on Tuesday morning.

But before taking his seat, Pascasio asked if he could say something first.

Before he could address the court, the judge advised him that anything he said could be used against him.

Arellano pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.

We did request an interview with Arellano, but he declined.

Court documents also reveal the preliminary autopsy results indicate both children, the five year old boy and one year old girl died as a result to smoke inhalation.

Arellano will be back in court in December.
