MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - A Sikeston woman is facing a felony drug charge after an investigation revealed she snuck drugs into the Mississippi County Detention Center over the weekend.

Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore says Courtney Jo Shank, 19, of Sikeston, Mo., was booked into the facility Sunday evening after she was arrested on unrelated charges by the Charleston Department of Public Safety.

During intake, a corrections officer reportedly noticed Shank behaving in a way that led her to believe she was trying to conceal contraband.

Upon further investigation, the officer found a baggie of marijuana concealed in her clothing.

The baggie was seized and then turned over to evidence.

The following morning, Shank participated in a videotaped interview with police.

As a result of that interview, the deputies developed probable cause to believe Shank had knowingly possessed and concealed the contraband on her person upon entering the Mississippi County Detention Center.

Shank is charged with delivery/possession/concealment of a controlled substance at/within a County Jail.

Shank was taken to the Mississippi County Detention Center with bond set at $25,000.
