Cooter, MO man facing felony assault charge

STEELE, MO (KFVS) - A Cooter, Missouri man is accused of hitting another man in the face with a wooden board.

Gary Roger Smith, Jr., 21, was charged with first degree assault, armed criminal action and tampering with a motor vehicle.

According to Steele Police Chief Bill Joe Stanfield, officers responded to a home on North Walnut on Monday, Oct. 26 for a report of a fight in progress.

Police say they found a 24-year-old man bleeding profusely from a cut on his face. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

Smith allegedly hit the man in the face with a wooden board. He was still at the home when police arrived and was arrested.

He was taken to the Pemiscot County Jail in lieu a $75,000 bond.
