ANNA, IL (KFVS) - A Heartland woman's brother sent out an touching tribute to the son he lost last summer, and received an uplifting response from half way around the world.
Jacki Brockett-Dent is from Anna, Illinois.
She contacted us on Facebook to share the story of her nephew, Blake Kenneth Seifers.
Brockett-Dent said Blake was killed in June 2014 when he was hit by a speeding motorist as he rode his bike in his hometown of Pontiac, Illinois.
Blake was just 7 years old.
Brockett-Dent said her family honored Blake in June of this year by releasing balloons covered with special messages to the little boy they lost.
She said they also released balloons to mark his birthday in September.
Earlier on Wednesday, Oct. 21, Brockett-Dent said her brother received a message and a photo of one of the balloons he released.
"This might sound very strange cause we live in Denmark, but my daughter found this balloon yesterday in our garden," the message read.
"I was really moved and think it's amazing if the balloon came from you," a woman named Katrina wrote of the silver balloon containing that message from Blake's dad.
Brockett-Dent said she wanted to share this with all of us because she's heard of other balloon releases, but not one where the balloon had traveled so far.
