Sheriff's office warns of person impersonating police officer

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Scott County Sheriff's Office is warning the public about someone impersonating a police officer over the phone.

According to the sheriff's office, they received several reports on Tuesday, Oct. 20 about a person trying to get money from people over the phone.

They say this person tells them there is an active warrant for their arrest.

According to deputies, in another incident the suspect identified himself as Donovan Black, badge number 8739.

Deputies say the suspect tries to get money via Pay Pal in order to take care of the warrant.

They say these incidents have been reported in both Scott and Cape Girardeau Counties.

Anyone who gets a call like this should immediately report it to their local law enforcement.
