Real-estate company reveals areas vulnerable to the supernatural

(RNN) - When one makes a big move to a new city, there are many things on the mind. Most home buyers are worried about the quality of schools in their area or if they are near the hip spot in town. But now, home-buyers can map out the best places to live to survive a zombie apocalypse.

Thanks to Trulia and in time for Halloween, an online service that offers a database of real estate listings, homebuyers can now find the perfect city to avoid both zombie and vampire attacks. Plus, buyers will never have to worry about wasting their hard-earned cash on a house full of vengeful spirits ever again because the team at Trulia offers an interactive map that warns of haunted areas.

Trulia created a list of the top 10 cities most susceptible for a supernatural attack using data from public sources.

Zombies

Using information from the U.S. Census, Trulia looked at all the major urban areas with more than 800,000 people. They then decided the worst places to live during a zombie apocalypse situation based on the number of cemeteries per 50,000 people in those areas. They also calculated the degrees of risk based on the minimum distance to a cemetery for every block group in the country.

If you live in these 10 cities, you are most likely to die in a zombie apocalypse:

1. Providence, RI-MA: Cemeteries per 50,000 people: 11.5

2. Nashville - Davidson, TN: Cemeteries per 50,000 people: 8.6

3. Hartford, CT: Cemeteries per 50,000 people: 7.6

4. Bridgeport-Stamford, CT-NY: Cemeteries per 50,000 people: 7.2

5. Boston, MA-NH-RI: Cemeteries per 50,000 people: 6.3

6. Pittsburgh, PA: Cemeteries per 50,000 people: 5.5

7. Cincinnati, OH-KY-IN: Cemeteries per 50,000 people: 5.4

8. Atlanta, GA: Cemeteries per 50,000 people: 5.2

9. Indianapolis, IN: Cemeteries per 50,000 people: 5.1

10. Cleveland, OH: Cemeteries per 50,000 people: 4.1

Vampires

As for the vampires, Trulia examined the same urban areas and compared them to the number of hospitals and blood banks per 50,000 people. They used Yelp to find that information. They think that vampires will likely combine forces in areas where blood is available – whether it comes from humans or blood banks, the more the merrier.

If you live in these areas, you might need to invest in garlic and wooden stakes:

1. San Diego, CA: Blood banks and hospitals per 50,000 people: 3.2

2. Austin, TX: Blood banks and hospitals per 50,000 people: 3.0

3. San Francisco – Oakland, CA: Blood banks and hospitals per 50,000 people: 2.5

4. Louisville/Jefferson County, KY-IN: Blood banks and hospitals per 50,000 people: 2.4

5. New Orleans, LA: Blood banks and hospitals per 50,000 people: 2.3

6. Oklahoma City, OK: Blood banks and hospitals per 50,000 people: 2.3

7. Boston, MA-NH-RI: Blood banks and hospitals per 50,000 people: 2.2

8. Seattle, WA: Blood banks and hospitals per 50,000 people: 2.2

9. San Antonio, TX: Blood banks and hospitals per 50,000 people: 2.2

10. Phoenix – Mesa, AZ: Blood banks and hospitals per 50,000 people: 2.2

Ghosts

Trulia also mapped out the most haunted areas, although they admit this information might be a little less scientific than the other data, but they insist these areas are definitely spooky-looking.

Here are the areas where you are most likely to make contact with the other side:

1. New Orleans, LA: Spooky places per 50,000 people: 1.1

2. Seattle, WA: Spooky places per 50,000 people: 1.0

3. Kansas City, MO-KS: Spooky places per 50,000 people: 0.9

4. Providence, RI-MA: Spooky places per 50,000 people: 0.9

5. Hartford, CT: Spooky places per 50,000 people: 0.9

6. Portland, OR-WA: Spooky places per 50,000 people: 0.8

7. Salt Lake City-West Valley City, UT: Spooky places per 50,000 people: 0.8

8. Indianapolis, IN: Spooky places per 50,000 people: 0.8

9. Louisville/Jefferson County, KY-IN: Spooky places per 50,000 people: 0.8

10. Baltimore, MD: Spooky places per 50,000 people: 0.7

Based on the lists, homeowners in Boston might want to immediately consult an exorcist in order to stay safe from the supernatural. As for the people of Ohio, it might be a good idea to invest in a bomb shelter if you aren't up for a move because according to The Walking Dead, zombies shouldn't be underestimated.
