CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Domestic violence knows no season, that's the message shared by members of the Domestic Violence Community Task Force.

The group held one of its quarterly meetings on Tuesday, Oct. 13, during a month designated to bring awareness to the issue.

With 1 in 3 women expected to face abuse at the hands of a partner, leaders say they're focused on how best to serve victims and their families.

"We are working year round with our victims, it never ever stops," Molly Woeltje, with Safe House for Women, said. "We'll be full tomorrow, we'll be full next month, we'll be full 6 months from now. It's not something that just goes away. There's not a season for it at all, it's year round."

The Safe House for Women in Cape Girardeau relies solely on donations of money and supplies to care for the women and children they serve.
