Cairo, IL grocery store set to close in December

CAIRO, IL (KFVS) - The only grocery store in a southern Illinois city is set to close before the new year, according to store employees.
The Cairo, Ill. Wonder Market will close on December 6, a store employee said. The Cairo location employees about 14 people.
The nearest grocery stores with the exception of a Dollar General will be located 7 miles away in Wickliffe, Kentucky or 8 miles away Mounds, Ill.
Cairo is located in Alexander County, one of the poorest areas in the entire state.
Calls to the Wonder Market corporate office were not been immediately returned.
