Search for missing Butler Co. man continues more than year later
POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - Family looks for closure more than a year after a Butler County, Missouri man went missing.
The man was taken into custody in October 2015 by Shannon County deputies on an arrest warrant for first degree assault and armed criminal action.
The charges stem from a disappearance of Edward Goodwin, a Butler County man who went missing in June 2015.
However, those charges were later dropped due to lack of evidence.
According to Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs, the person of interest stopped cooperating in the investigation.
According to court documents, the man was interviewed on Sept. 14, 2015 about Goodwin's disappearance.
He allegedly told the sheriff that Goodwin was led to a rural area, beaten and killed.
According to Sheriff Mark Dobbs, it is believed that the person of interest worked with a group of other people to harm Goodwin.
Goodwin's body has not been recovered.
He was reported missing by his mother, Connie Goodwin.
She said the family just wants her son's body found.
"We want Edwards body found to lay him to rest. The family needs closure," Goodwin said.
Connie said it's taking a toll on the family as they want answers to know what happened with Edward.
"Edward was a great dad to his son and daughter. He was a good son, brother and uncle," she said.
