If you live in the city of Cape Girardeau and have hazardous waste you need to get rid of, mark your calendar!

On Saturday, October 10, the city will hold a collection event at the 4-H Building in Arena park from 9:00 a.m. until noon.

The event is free for residential trash and recycling customers.

Customers have to deliver their trash in leak proof containers.

The program is designed for folks to be able to get rid of things that are not normally accepted in weekly trash service.

The list of acceptable waste includes acids, adhesives, antifreeze, artist paint, auto wax, brake fluid, degreaser, fluorescent light bulbs, gasoline, kerosene, used motor oil and filters, and varnish. For a complete list, click here.

Paper shredding will also be available.

For more information, you can contact the public works department at (573) 339-6351.
