AVA, IL (KFVS) - In Ava, Illinois, words were written targeting the Amish to move out, words that have neighbors in the area angry, frustrated and shocked.

It was reported on Saturday, September 12  to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department that graffiti was spray-painted along Sharp Rock Road in Ava, Illinois.

Words that read, "Go back to Cambell Hill," along with other harsh words and symbols.

Neighbors say there is a large Amish community in the area - and targeting anyone regardless of where they're from, will not be tolerated.

"We're all working class people, we all know what it's like to get established," Bret Jones said. "We don't need this kind of hassle."

After this happened, neighbors say they are keeping an extra eye out, in hopes to find who did this.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department is chasing some leads, but this incident remains under investigation.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department encourages people to contact the department for anyone that may have information about this incident.
