Mt. Vernon Fire Department hosting liquid petroleum gas training

MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) - The Mt. Vernon, Illinois Fire Department is hosting a liquid petroleum gas training at the Mt. Vernon airport along route 15 this week.

The training is being held in partnership with the Illinois Fire Service Institute and the LPG association, according to Kevin Sargent with the Mt. Vernon Fire Department.

LPG training will help prepare firefighters to take on propane and natural gas fires.

Area fire departments have been invited. Woodlawn, Jefferson, and Benton  are expected to attend.

The department will be training hands-on with these types of fire with this training.
