Kennett, Dexter men named to Southeast Board of Regents

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has named a lawyer from Kennett and a veteran to the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents.

Phillip Britt of Kennett has served as the Drug Court Commissioner for the 35th Judicial Circuit since 2002. Prior to that, he represented the 163rd District in the Missouri House.  Britt also served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Dunklin and Pemiscot counties.  He graduated from Southeast and received his law degree from the University of Missouri.

Dexter resident Edward Gargas was also named a regent. Gargas is the director of operations and sales for Bagby Wealth Management. He's a commissioned officer in the Missouri Army National Guard and a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Gargas, too, graduated from Southeast Missouri State University.

Both men were appointed to terms that end January 1, 2022.
