WYATT, MO (KFVS) - A Mississippi County woman has been arrested in connection to a child abuse investigation.
According to Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore, the investigation began on Wednesday when a deputy was dispatched to a home in Wyatt, to investigate allegations of child abuse.
When he got there, he met with representatives from the Mississippi County Juvenile Office and Missouri Children's Division.
This is when he learned Eddie Mae Washington, 50, of Wyatt, had reportedly assaulted a young child.
During the investigation, he developed probable cause to believe Washington had repeatedly struck a young child with an extension cord, leaving torn flesh and significant bruising across the child's back.
Washington was placed under arrest and taken to the Mississippi County Detention Center.
She was charged with abuse of a child.
Bond has been set at $25,000.
