LEOPOLD, MO (KFVS) - Most parents tell their kids not to play ball in the house, but it's the goal of a product called Hoverball to bring the game indoors.

Hoverball claims to glide over any surface: carpet, wood or tile. It's infomercial says it will not scratch, dent or ding your walls, floor, or furniture or break any windows.

Window breakage is actually a concern for Leopold, Missouri grandmother Barbara Allen.

"The boys were playing ball outside and the ball came through the window where we were sitting," Allen said.

Allen is excited to see what Hoverball can do, or rather won't do to her house.

"I'm excited to see what it'll do - see if it'll not scratch anything," said Allen.

Allen's 10-year-old granddaughter Ashlyn was excited to be able to kick something around in grandma's living room.

"It looks cool," said Ashlyn.

Ashlyn's kicks sent the Hoverball sailing across the floor, but not into the air. Time after time, the Hoverball hit the walls, the couch, the fireplace, the kitchen cabinets, the TV stand, you name it.

"It doesn't scratch the wall or anything," said Ashlyn.

Ashlyn's new shoes did more to scuff up her grandma's hardwood floor than the Hoverball, and the toy went right over the small rug in grandma's kitchen.

"I like it," Ashlyn said.

Allen was happy to see the Hoverball doesn't leave the ground, so there's no way it's going through grandma's window.

"It never did bounce up in the air," said Allen. "It stayed on the floor and doesn't scratch the floor or anything."

One thing we did notice in our test, the Hoverball doesn't really "hover" like the infomercial would lead you to believe. It more or less just slides across the floor.

Allen said the Hoverball is grandma-approved for indoor play at her house, and would recommend it for schools as well.

"I think it was excellent," Allen said. "It didn't bounce up in the air and it would be a good toy for the classroom for recess on a rainy day."

The Hoverball also passes Ashlyn's test.

"It's fun to play with," said Ashlyn.

Ashlyn and Allen give the Hoverball 5 stars on this Does It Work test.
