Crews battle house fire in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Firefighters responded to a house fire on Cheetah Drive in Cape Girardeau just after 4 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses say smoke was seen throughout the neighborhood.

According to the Cape Girardeau Fire Department, the flames started on the back porch and spread to the house.

One person was home at the time, but was unharmed.
Firefighters cut out a portion of the home to help fight the fire. 

The family is forced to stay elsewhere due to heavy smoke and fire damage.

There is no word on the exact cause of the fire, but officials do not consider it to be suspicious.
