SCOTT CITY, MO (KFVS) - A car caught fire at the corner of Greer and Crites Street in Scott City around 4 p.m. on Sunday.

According to Scott City Fire Chief Jay Cassout, a person was driving up Interstate 55 when their car started filling with smoke.

The driver took the Scott City exit and drove to Greer Street, parked and got out of the car.

Shortly after that, a fire started and engulfed the vehicle.

Cassout believes the cause of the fire started in a dome light inside the car.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished the flames.

Nobody was hurt in the fire.
