Create your own superhero: Comic book drawing workshop in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Before The Avengers were saving the world on the big screen, the superhero group battled evil in the confines of comic books.

If you've ever wanted to create your own Iron Man, Thor or Captain America, this weekend is your chance.

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri and Cape Comic Con are hosting a comic book drawing workshop.

Local artists Nathan Bonner and Brian Rhodes will be on hand to teach techniques and give tips to aspiring and amateur artists alike.

Bonner is the writer and artist behind Invado, a webcomic space adventure. Rhodes is the brain behind the web-based comic strip Mike and the Ninja.

The art boards created at the event are eligible to be displayed at the CAPED! exhibition at this year's Cape Comic Con.

The workshop will be held Saturday, March 21 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. at the Arts Council on Main St. in Cape Girardeau.

The event is free and open to people of all ages, but children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent. All drawing supplies including art boards  will be provided to the participants.

The Arts Council is asking those interested in attending register for the event, however, registration is not required.

For more information visit www.capearts.org/CAPED.aspx or call the Arts Council at 573-334-9233.
