FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Three people were killed as a result of a head-on crash Thursday night in Franklin County, Illinois, according to the county coroner.

Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler says the crash happened just west of the intersection of Parrish Circle and Route 149 about 10:40 p.m.

According to Leffler, one of the drivers was 23-year-old Nickolas Daniel Beasley of Zeigler and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Leffler says the other driver, 55-year-old Sherri Patton of Benton, Illinois, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in Patton's vehicle, 60-year-old Kristeen Renee Long of Christopher, was taken to Herrin Hospital where she died from her injuries, according to Leffler.

Beasley, Patton and Long were all wearing seat belts.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated by the Franklin County Sheriff's Department.

Leffler says Patton and Long were both employees at the Westside Care Center in West Frankfort. Beasley worked at M-Class Mine near Akin.
