2 dead after separate Williamson County traffic crashes

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Williamson County, Illinois sheriff's office is investigating two separate deadly traffic crashes that happened on Monday.

According to the sheriff's office, the first crash happened shortly after 3:10 p.m. Stotlar Road near the intersection with Reed Cemetery Road.

An investigation shows, Terry Rawson, 57, of Sesser, Illinois was driving westbound on Stotlar Road when his motorcycle was hit from behind by another vehicle.

Rawson was taken to Herrin Hospital and then flown to a St. Louis area hospital where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the motorcycle was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and following too closely.

The sheriff's office says more charges may be considered by the Williamson County State's Attorney's Office upon completion of the accident reconstruction report.

The second deadly crash happened shortly after 7:20 am. on Paulton Road, just north of Galatia Post Road.

A vehicle driven by Jonathan King, 33, of Pittsburg, Illinois ran off the road and overturned several times. King was thrown from the vehicle.

King was flown to an Evansville area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
