The cause of a house fire in East Prairie that left one person hurt has been ruled undetermined. Fire Chief Kyle Hutcheson said it is not considered suspicious.
The city of Mayfield, Ky. has officially gone smoke-free in the new year. The City Council voted 5 to 4 earlier last year in favor of a smoking ban inside the city limits. It applies to buildings and restaurants.
The Paducah Tilghman High School marching band got some major national exposure Wednesday. After winning a field show competition at the Gator Bowl, they got to perform the pregame show, march in the parade, perform during halftime and won $10,000.

In national news, as many as 13 people have been injured, six critically, after a three-story residential building fire in Minneapolis Wednesday morning. According to Fire Chief John Fruetel, there may still be people inside the building. Fruetel said not everyone has been accounted for.
James Avery, best known as Uncle Phil from "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," died New Year's Eve. He was 67.
