POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - Animal control had to put down a deer that ran through two businesses in Poplar Bluff Friday morning.

Officer Don Trout with the Poplar Bluff Police Department says he call about the deer came in Friday at 9:26 a.m.

Trout says the deer broke through a plate glass window at the post office at 430 Poplar Street, went through the post office, then ran into the Missouri Natural Gas Warehouse at 313 South Broadway.

It was contained in a fenced in area at the warehouse.

The deer was injured. Animal control tranquilized it. Then, it died. Conservation agents picked it up to take it out of town.

No one was injured, but the deer broke the window at the post office and caused a mess at the warehouse.

Officer Trout says in his 25 years working at the Poplar Bluff Police Department, this is only the third time he can remember a deer walking around businesses in town.
