METROPOLIS, IL (KFVS) - Metropolis Police Chief Harry Masse says two men are facing meth related charges.

According to the chief, a search warrant also led to the discovery of a meth lab.

On October 23, police were told of two people acting suspicious at a pharmacy buying Pseudoephedrine.

Metropolis Officers set up surveillance and saw two men matching the description given walking away from the business. The two were stopped and additional items were found which are used in the production of meth.

Robert A. Smith, 54 and Scott A. Smith, 29, of Metropolis face charges of possession of meth making materials.

A search warrant was then obtained for their home on Filmore Street. With the assistance of the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force, the house was searched.

This led to additional charges of possession of meth making materials, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful meth waste disposal.

The Illinois State Police Meth Response Team was also called to dispose of the hazardous materials and collection of evidence.

Both men were booked into the Massac County Detention Center.
