Search to be conducted Saturday for missing New Madrid woman

NEW MADRID COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Several law enforcement agencies will join together in a search for a missing New Madrid woman.

Barbara Stoffer, 83, was last seen on Aug. 20 around 5 p.m. Stoffer's sister says she last saw Stoffer Tuesday afternoon.

They say Barbara Stoffer is 5' 2" tall and weighs 120 pounds with gray hair. She drives a 1993 green Volvo 850 glt, four-door. The license plate number is 073RYW. Police say the tags and driver's license are expired.

New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens said they have searched the entire county by air, water and ground.

The New Madrid Police Department along with the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol will be conducting a coordinated search of western New Madrid County.

The command center for the search will be the New Madrid County Ambulance shed located on D Highway in Parma and initial briefing will be at 8 a.m.

Along with law enforcement and fire department personnel, organizers are asking for civilian volunteers to aid in the search.

Volunteers can report to the ambulance shed between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.  Dress in long pants, hats, etc. for the search.

Search areas will be assigned after the briefing and the command center will be manned throughout the day to keep track of the search’s progress.
