PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The Paducah gaseous diffusion plant will close. That means more than 1,000 employees will lose their jobs.
Today, the U.S. Department of Energy rejected a proposal that would have extended operations at the plant.
The plant was scheduled to close last year, but a temporary deal to enrich depleted uranium for two utility companies kept the plant open.
Some employees have already received layoff notices.
