CLINTON, KY (KFVS) - Hickman County Sheriff Mark Green said around 2 a.m. Sunday in Clinton, Ky., a woman came home to find a man at her front door.
According to Green, the man busted the door in and stole a TV, jewelry and other miscellaneous items. He said the suspect got in a vehicle and drove away from the woman's home. The woman then called authorities.
Hickman County Sheriffs Office Deputy, Sgt. Ben Natividad responded. The woman told him the suspect was in a Ford F150 with an Illinois license plate. Green said Natividad spotted the truck on Hwy. 703 and a vehicle pursuit began for about a mile. It ended when the suspect drove the truck into a deep ravine.
Green said at one point, the suspect stopped in the middle of the road and told the officer to not come any closer.
After the wreck, the officer chased the suspect on foot.
Hickman County Deputies, Clinton Police Department, and Mayfield Police Department and K-9 Kane assisted with the apprehension of the suspect. After a perimeter was set up, K9 unit "Kane" located the suspect hiding in a creek covered in mud and he was taken into custody.
Michael Williams, 21, of Cairo, Ill. was charged with burglary, fleeing and evading police, resisting arrest and wanton endangerment. He is being held at the Hickman County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
According to Green, items belonging to the home were found in the vehicle and returned.
Green said it was a quick response from everyone that helped catch the suspect.
