1 arrested, 1 on the run after shooting in Poplar Bluff
POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - Poplar Bluff Police arrested one man and are looking for another after a man was shot in the back Wednesday night.
Officers responded to 1311 North Main St. around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday after a report of shots fire.
Officers found Joshua Leader on the dining room floor with a gunshot wound to his upper right back.
Leader was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital for treatment. Police say the bullet entered his upper right back, traveled across his back and stopped just short of his spine. He was released from the hospital.
Leader told officers that he was shot by Dimitri Dudley.
Witnesses at the scene told officers that Dimitri Dudley and Michael Thomas came to 1311 North Main St. to confront Leader over a dispute between Leader and Thomas concerning a relationship they both have with the same girl.
Witnesses told police Leader and other people ran into the home to escape Dudley and Thomas when they arrived.
Police say Dudley and Thomas kicked in the locked front door, entered the home and Dudley shot Leader in the upper right back as he attempted to flee further into the home.
Arrest warrants are being sought for burglary first degree, armed criminal action and assault in the first degree on both Dimitri Dudley and Michael Thomas.
Dimitri Dudley and Michael Thomas fled the scene before police arrived. Police have arrested Thomas. Dudley is still on the run.
Poplar Bluff police warn they should be considered armed and dangerous. The suspects left in a black two-door car with possible plate number of PZ1-???.
