HAYTI, MO (KFVS) - Authorities say a bio-diesel plant worker was injured Friday morning in an explosion near Hayti.
According to Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, the 911 call came in around 8:15 a.m. about a reported an explosion at the natural bio diesel plant on State Highway J.
Employees tell police resin was being dumped into a tower when the explosion occurred.
Sheriff Greenwell says a employee received burns during the explosion and was taken to a local hospital by private vehicle. The victim was later flown to the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis.
No word on the victim's condition.
The Missouri Fire Marshal's office and Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office investigated and say it's still unclear what caused the explosion.
The sheriff says the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) has been notified.
The Hayti Fire Department assisted at the scene.
